SOMETIMES IT IS SIMPLY NECESSARY TO LET GO OF YOUR TOXIC SHAME AND DISORDERS AND ENTRUST THEM TO THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE OF GOD.

COPING WITH YOUR COMPULSIVE DISORDERS IS LIKE THE ART OF FLYING  A KITE!

LEARN FROM THIS VULNERABLE BUTTERFLY- WHEN TO FIGHT YOUR WAY OUT OF THE COCOON AND WHEN TO LET GO AND FLY LIKE A GLORIOUS BUTTERFLY.

Yes,  coping with disorders is like kite-flying. To gain more height for your kite, you may have to let go and let the wind carry the kite higher. But when the kite is losing momentum without any wind support, then you have to pull the string back to regain some control of the kite until it catches the next draught of wind.Similarly when one is drained off and become too obsessive with one’s craving, then it may be time to let go of the rigid control. This is part and parcel of being human. It takes many ups and downs before one can regain control of one’s emotions and one’s emotional well-being. When you are up, don’t be too relax because your emotional turmoil can surprise you and capsize your emotional equilibrium. On the other hand, if you are down with your oppressive disorders, don’t be too discouraged. Don’t abandon the fight and surrender to despair, hopelessness and helplessness. When one simply cannot cope with one’s disorders, that is the time that one should turn to the Higher Powers or God to take over the battle. That is what AA members are advised to do when they are at the end of their  tethers. Just surrender yourself to God and his unconditional love and let Him fill the vacuum of your life to heal your craving and your disorders. As a human being, there is only so much that you can do. When fighting the powerful external forces of evil in this world coupled with the inner embedded disorders of your human condition,   most human beings are simply not up to the par. The good Lord knows that you are simply too weak for He made you out of dust. He also knows that you cannot battle with the overwhelming forces and hope to win the war on your own merit. He knows that you need lots of spiritual help and strength from Him. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus, to teach a new gospel of love to the world- that God loves every single one of us unconditionally.
The basic ingredient for your physical composition is dust or humus.  So just let go of your pride and self-trust. An important part of human wisdom to be able to recognize when to trust and depend on yourself and when to let go of your own self-confidence and put your trust in God. Just let this important awareness sink into your daily consciousness. That is why it is important to learn to trust the loving God and tap onto his infinite powers of healing love to do what you cannot do by yourself alone. Sometimes, your human condition is simply much more powerful than your will power and your logic. It is like flying a kite. To gain greater height of spirituality, one must let go of oneself and let God take over  with his grace and his love. God’s grace and love are certainly and infinitely more powerful and effective than mere human powers in tackling and solving complex human problems and compulsive disorders in this broken world.

Food For Thought

God sends no one away except those who are full of themselves. There is a season for everything in life. There is a season for self-reliance and self-confidence and there is also a season for self-emptying and humility. If you are too full of yourself, the outpouring of the divine grace simply cannot flow into your soul. If you are too proud of yourself, there is simply no room for God in your life.
`God resisted the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.’    (1 Peter 5:5)

THERE IS DEFINITELY A PLACE IN GOD’S UNIVERSE FOR THE LOWEST OF CREATURES- THE MAGGOTS.

IN GOD'S UNIVERSE, HOW WOULD RANK THE VALUE OF A WOUNDED HUMAN BEING COMPARED WITH A TINY MAGGOT OR A CATERPILLAR?

Do you know that one of the greatest painters of all times, Vincent van Gogh, started his adult working life as a pastor, and was later disillusioned by the church leaders who turned a blind eye to the poor before he became a committed professional painter? He was one man who had experienced the full catastrophe of human suffering – from depression, unrequited love, a certain degree of `mental madness’ or imbalance to the glorious blossoming of his creativity that later on produced great paintings such as the `The Sunflower’. Yet this famous painter reeled from the career of pastor at one end of the spectrum to the other end and indulged in a mad love affair with a prostitute to whom he even cut off an ear to prove his love. There is no doubt that Vincent van Gogh had led a pretty scandalous life. But have we ever pondered on the unlikely idea that his beautiful creativity that blossomed later on might have hibernated, processed and transformed during his romantic affairs with the hooker! The unknown hooker may have been the `social maggot’ that cleansed up the ugly inner wounds of van Gogh.
Let me borrow a leaf from Mother Nature to enlighten you on the medical value of a maggot. Now can you imagine maggots crawling over your bare skin or worse still, wallowing in your open wound! This very thought is enough to give you the worst nightmare!Yet you may not believe it if I were to tell you that maggots can be a very effective way of helping a nasty wound to heal up quickly and to fight infection. It is already being used at some hospitals in Britain and other parts of the world.
Up to the 1930s, if you were injured in an accident or a battle, there was a serious risk that the wound would become infected. Often the only answer was amputation, otherwise the infection would spread through the body and kill you. Then penicillin was discovered and other antibiotics followed. Despite drugs and dressings, that wound may not heal up. So doctors are re-discovering a method of treating wounds that was used before the invention of antibiotics, especially in the United States.
The maggots are bred from the eggs of a kind of fly, the greenbottle. They are sterilised so that they don’t carry infections. Depending on how large the wound is, from half-a-dozen up to a few hundred maggots are placed in the wound under a special dressing. The patient does not feel anything. Then the maggots get to work eating dead and diseased tissue in the wound. Usually they are removed after three days.
Doctors find that infections disappear and the wound heals quickly. It may seem revolting but God has given us an effective way of promoting healing. Thus maggots can be seen as one of nature’s environmental clean-up specialists.
It may appear that God’s creation of the little greenbottle fly does not serve any useful purpose except to spread diseases. Generally we don’t like flies such as the greenbottle because they spread disease- and they still do. That is why it is important to cover our food so that the flies do not land on it. Yet, these detestable flies can serve an important function of fighting disease. In our eyes, the greenbottlee flies must be exterminated at all costs because they are perceived as dirty revolting pests in our world. We harbor this negative thought of the greenbottle because of our limited understanding of the big picture of God’s creation. We simply want to see things as we are – not see things as they are. Yet with better understanding, we are proven wrong because the greenbottle is a creature that seems at first sight to be an enemy turns out to be a very valuable friend.
Now that we have receive a lesson from Mother Nature on the positive value of the abominable maggots, let us take a look at the existence of an undesirable `social maggot’ (the hooker) in the life of Vincent van Gogh. Can anyone really understand the purpose of the social maggot in the life of one of our most creative painters? Do we have the wisdom to judge and condemn the hooker who probably caused van Gogh to cut one of his ears? Do we have the wisdom to really comprehend the necessity or purpose of the hooker in van Gogh’s life?Having known about the ugly realities in van Gogh’s life, do we downgrade his creativity and the financial value of `The Sunflower’ that was last auctioned for more than US$80 million?Have God given any of us the permission to judge and condemn the morality of the prostitute or van Gogh?Or if we give ourselves permission to judge van Gogh’s lover (the hooker) or any other sex workers, don’t you think we may run the risk of `playing God’? If we look at the terrible things that are happening in our broken world such as terrorist acts or persecuting religious or social minority groups, then we know the real reasons why our world is broken so badly. Then we will really comprehend why Jesus the Messiah has stressed so repeated and strongly that it is important not to judge others negatively. To do so would be an act of undermining the Gospel of love.
